I can now see why the Iranians were a tad miffed about 300....
For some reason I have yet to identify all the Persians are... MUTANTS!?! it's like a freaking nekkid X man camp.....
The battle scenes are choreographed beautifully, the Spartans are, I believe the young 'ens call buff™ And the chappy and chapess who play Leonadis and Gorg are fantastic, lots of scene chewing moments.... Where the film not so much falls down, but rather in a comic sense slips on some spilled blood and falls on it's own sword is where apparently Leonadis is a criminal for leading a military force out during the charnea (SP) but it's one of the Lacadomonia's most sacred events... Wrong... The men with him are a "collection of mates" wrong..... They omit the other fucking king!!!! which would be why one king and his personal bodyguard can choose not to worship in times of extremis.. A Lycergan idea iirc ohh and the Ephors were not mutants out of star wars™.. Oddly (yes I know this is based on a rather good graphic novel) Oddly most of the crap is not in the GN.. Now I'm tempted to jump on the OMGZ Americanismsssssss!!!111eleven.. But it's not, it's just a film.. The actual history is a lot better...
And Xerses being camper than a field full of scouts and looking like Richard O'Brian helped little :)
But good film.... Fantastic score as well..... Visually sumptuous and the ending warmed my cockles
Ohhh and the Persians were the bad guys... And the irony of the Spartans fighting against slavery…. Humanity rocks, no really…..

Well, what a week..
Hello to my one reader (waves)
Been buying new music bought the new Miden and Queensryche albums and some Ricky Gervaise podcast, all in all good,
I will review in more depth later.
Saw Henry the V again last night, gods I love that play, I recon any PM in waiting who quoted the St Crispin speach would get my vote... on that point not sure who to go for.... I live in fear of what blighty will become, I recon another century and we'll be a muslim country, god Liester and Birmingham are going that way now, Islam is without doubt the only faith that gives me cause for worry, not because of the text, but the way it's preaches interpate it. I'm currently reading a cracking little book about the rise and utter distruction of the Cathar fith in the 2nd crusade.... Islam is where the cross botherers were several centuries before, once again the world stumble towards a massive clash of faiths, it'll be another Marathon (no not the running think, the event that sparked the current event)
things in work have been interesting, to say the least

Hades' balls this months dragged, but finally the end is here...
which also means most of my department is now on holiday, and my crash course to the job continues! getting the hang of it but still so many things to work out, order patterns, supply spikes and the like, but it's fun....
Good news Iron Maidens new and possibly last album is out "A matter of life and death" it's downloading as we speak, first two tracks are as ever cracking!
Any of my former workmates reading this missive Sept 15 in the pm I'm at trent-vine church/cult hangout for a libraries confrence, it should knock off about 4 - 4:30 so if your up for it' fancy a trip to the man of bugs for a few ales.

Well...
Possibly the most intense week so far... Helen's away, and work went to shite! perhaps the most bizarre set of events stopped me from working Thusday due to the utter, scary and mind boggling incompitence of senior managers....
I'll not say what happened suffice to say the caretakes and I have been shouting VERY bad words the last few days, on the plus side I think I've bonded (in extremis) with them... I must say though, how the fuck democracy has gotten this far is a miracle... but those who know me know my feelings on the topic.....
Sigh
I was going to say more but I've been drinking uncut red wine (in the true barbarian style as it's the weekend since about 18:00hrs and am less than coherent now..
ah yes the voice sorry dear, she is known as Clymestene, and thus far she's trying to get me to finish re-drawing some Greek art I started a week or so ago...... bah

Well, I'm beginning to think me being based with the caretakers is a bad idea as I'm becoming a more irascible intolerant old bastard.. It seems my spelling has suffered also..
Also, is it me or does the current military by Israel seem a tad ironic coughGENOCIDEcough, given that very special loved by god vilified by man race of beings, and also historically being not to unafraid to use terror and terrorism to achieve it's goals you'd think there'd be a tad more empathy and understanding... Still with that gutless sack of flesh Blair apparently sharing the same braincell and arsehole as that arsehat Bush perhaps no surprise... I can hear all those "secret Zionist plot" nuts scribbling in their notepads as I type.....

Well.... It's been awhile since my last confession.... Oh wrong place.. damin it told you.
Yay I have a job and am no longer dole scum...
Sorry to me mates out there for lack of contact, but I have signing on, and kinda feel like a leech, especially in social occasions, now I have an income i shall now be out more. winks at crowd. Voice is back and happy, she is now sporting a sexy Greek accent, and apparently wearing a fez and not much else, I have explaind this is no use to me. but hey, that women for you, even the incorporial.
My time of (imposed) has been good, I have learned how much I took my wife for granted, how lazy I was, how exquisit beer, propper German/Russian beer tastes, how fantastic my cat is and how tremendous nature is.... in beteen job hunting and interviews I have become who I once was, ok there's no beach, but getting up at dawn and watching, phisically watching the day progress to dust is awesome.. And the lawn and hedges have never been tidy (I have ols manual hege clippers, lot more work, but worth it)
I have finally seen Saw and Saw 2... good films, the end of 2, well most of 2 I thought was a might pointless, and way too "hollywood" which detracted from the first film... kind of like 24, fantastic first series, now a sad cash cow... plus if I were Bower I'd have quite the fucking job.. unless he's on danger money shesh... or he's a masochist...
Currently planning a holidy to Greece, that incorporates a tripe to both Sparta and Delphi...
Yes I know the Pithia is no longer in residence and Sparta appart form I think the temple of Athena/Artimus is nothing more than rosh and a few timber frame it's the principle... Ahhh ahem, the voice has just infomed me I'm approaching rant territory... for those in the know I'll bore you Saturday :0)
For the casual or indeed the visitor expecting hot girl on girl love I can only appologise.....

Still sans job, but my dear wife (Helen) has told me to chill and take a break..
So what's happened.....
I've been invited to re join the army by an old buddy.... luckily I was sober when he phoned, the Ta is temptng me, but I fear not while I'm married. I've got some illustration Iron s in the fire...
For the casual reade I'm a freelance illustrator as well as internation man of dubious character and hero of the South...
Voice is back, summer approaches and I'm sure she'll berate me for the extra punds I've gained....
Eve is still fun in a new corp, run by a woman no less!!!

So I had my first brush with the "real world" today..... I turns out it wasn't the one advertised. Still, it went ok, and the cash is ok.
But gods beneath us they were dull... ok accountants do tend to by pigin-holes by some of these chaps sheeesh.....
There were zero mutual intrests, and the work is dull... so I don't know... beggers can't be choosers I guess, but I'll fing out next week yay or nay.
now have one week to find employment or possible employment with the old company....
Oh dear readers anyone know where to get a working demo of Quark Express from... Thinking of following my dream and my heart and going back into graphics.....

Today is my day off.... hens I'm up late on a school night and pished.......
Have been watching stuff on WW1, incase you folks out there forgot this Sunday is rememberence day, christ I can still remember getting ready for this parade down in Cardiff castle with the regiment.....
Only 3 men remain on our side from that war, the youngest is 106, and more spritly thang 3/5 of the idle scrounging fuckers that infest this nation! Why the hell did they bother eh? the best of this generation ran down the pre-pubesent cracks of thier mothers arses!
And now leads me to this current funk... what has my life to date achieved... nothing.... I've fought no wars, done nothing of note for my nation....
sigh....
Ok not quite true, I have a fantastic wife, who I don't deserve, but appaert from that what have I contributed to my tribe... nothing, nor will I as society is intent on clinging to these insane liberal values...
But hey, perhaps I'll be around at the end times... maybe I can carve a nieche there.... horns or wings?

And lo he did return from the event, alive and well, my character has a new job, Master of Horse... I was aiming for master of whores but my IC bos gave me his "teacher" stare.... I'm still pondering if this is good job, given the system has no rules for our equine friends..... still it'll be a roleplay challenge. (who will care for the whore I ask you.....)
The house is being random at the moment, there appears to be a noise in it.... well I'll explain, at about 0400 last Friday morning we were rudly awoken by what I can only describe as a darlek being analy surprised, it lasted for about 10 minutes and abruptly stopped, no I was in the same room as said noise quickly ingoring the accumilated wisdom of many a horror film and could see nowt, now I suspect it could be one of thoes novelty cards of bloody talking toys on the fritz..... but we found no such thing.... shaken we went back to bed.
yesterday at about 2301 as I threw something into the spare room yep, more noise, another investigation ensued and nothing.... to this point I am now stumped.... Helen's beginning to think it has link to the upcoming Sam hain(SP) festival on Monday.... I am less convinced, Saterday I shall investigate the house.... in my pants.....
I have conclude the world is full of very, very self-important people, busybodies and general people constanly playing the one up game.... I'm bored of this now.....

Well, the voice has gone.... settle down back there, she'll be back, she left stating she was a summer girl, and all this cold does nothing for her, apparently she's off backpacking around warmer climes, perhaps a trip back to Austin to get my present, I had hinted I'd quite like to learn to ride a horse (and lead Texas in a war against the Mexicans! and whoever else asks for it!)I wait, breath baited.
Still PC less.... many days late now, illustration work building up, but it happens, spent last night working out what work I've got on, it's a fair bit only one job in ten are paying alas... it's be nice to get some more paying commissions but, I'm doing what I love, and shesh, not many people can say that....
Eventing in October, time to dust off the Lorica and run around a field waving a rubber sword, quite looking forward to it.
Saw a fantastic program on the search for Shangri la, the mysterious city of peace and harmony up in the Tibetan mountains, some AWESOME shots of the Tibetan landscape and lots of mountains... kinda made me feel like digging out my climing shoes again!!
The best bit, and ultimate culmination of said program was that Shangri la was not a place per se but a state of being.....
People want a place of milks and honey/safe and protected - we dream/fantasize about other worlds/countries/heavens.... meanwhile this little old ball of blue gets neglected... because yep you got it were busy finding paradise... has it I wonder occured to them that paradise is here, it just may need a little spit and polish and a bit of self control?
It is now my IMHO (see I can do this funky TXt thing [see down with the kids me ;0)])
That the 'faithful' hippys people who hope and wish (to an extreme level of course) and the like are bad, the promote a lifestyle in which they take no responsibility for their actions, in fact they actively abrogate self control because hey, god'll sort it fior the faithful! pew....
the more I learn and grow, I'm leaning to the Bhudist(sp?) veiw point.....
But here I am shouting into the wind and being as hypocritical as the rest.... shame on me.

I can spend the WHOLE OF TONIGHT AND ALL DAY TOMORROW (after I mow the lawn and do domestic stuff and make candles for Helen) drawing, and much I have to do as well. There's a chance the comic (no2) may get syndication in a magazine, JD is hammering out details, comic (no1) is off being edited, and should be off the Dark Horse and Image next month. and My PC bits arrive! won't get a lay in but I have enough tea and whisky to keep me going.
Hele's going out tomorrow night, which is cool for her, I don't thing she does enough outside the house, I'm starting to feel guilty.....
My spider sence is ringing, I susspect the iminent arrival of inlaws soon.. meh
I shall now attempt to fix this database.....
